Let me preface by saying I am not a graphic designer, nor am I in anyway an architect, and i am the furthest thing from a blue print maker.... however I am is a person who needs to anally measure things multiple times.
So equipped with a fifty foot rope marked at every 10' ft and a 25 ft tape measure we headed to the lake last weekend. I know the picture that I created doesn't do it any type of justice so I added some real pictures as well.

So there she is... our little piece of the diy wedding pie.. isn't she a beauty? A decent size and full of possibilities... My head is still reeling from all the ideas that I some how have to put into motion in the next year...
So the only for sure things that we have decided are :
- Leaving the trees; obviously... they were there first, and I couldn't justify or afford to take them out for 4-8 hours. Thats selfish; and mother nature is not someone I want to be rude to...
- The tractor storage/ port is a decent size and right on the walk the way to the clearing area so were thinking we would repurpose that area for the bar....
- The rv area is going to be the dance floor, but the initial area is too small and is little rocks and gravel. so we will be clearing that area out and either putting a rented floor down or thinking of something else... but the good part is that the ground is pretty flat there already, win.
- We will not be changing or removing anything in the orchard area of the property, we love to just clean it up and help those little guys flourish again real soon.
- I love the idea of the ground being covered with pine needles and dried leaves.. so after we do the initial clean up this year I would really like next summer and falls droppings to stay where they lie. it will help with the ascetic, ambiance, and my sanity... with that being said, we have also chosen to go with wild flowers as ground covering in certain areas, to enhance the look and feel of the browns and greens, and hopefully over time it'll make it a beautiful area that we can always remember we planted those 20 years ago...
so thats that! we are so excited and I wish every day was a day that I could get up there and start getting to it!
heres a little peak of the pictures that we took while up there this past weekend.

we also have created an Instagram account to document the process of the whole debacle as well as use it for guests to use to tag us the day of the wedding. We figured a real account is more permanent than hashtags and it will only include people and things we want. not strangers and different events.
